staircase on Hadrian's Wall
From Friday until Sunday it's been non-stop QL around here - Friday was our 'Writing Ground' reading - well attended, well received, nearly all the books sold to a really warm audience. Saturday was a music day - four friends, a pile of music and four viols with all day to spend on them - a deeply satisfying activity, very relaxing.
And today - we shot off towards Greenhead on Hadrian's Wall
and discovered a wonderful organic enterprise on the B6318 - Slack House Farm - where they make cheese, rear organic beef and have a superb cafe where we had lunch in a converted farm building - great menu, not a trace of things 'drizzled' or ' served on a bed of....' just good honest food that tasted of what it was made from. They're open from Thursday to Monday each week from April to October but they take bookings for evenings, parties and even offer to make you a picnic to pick up if you phone in the morning. They're busy converting another part of the barn into sleeping quarters for hikers and cyclists. Go and treat yourselves to a bit of QL.....
Richard's lunch - organic pork and beef salad,
wholemeal bread, home made chutneys
