best to cook the sevilles whole
I had a long, rather domestic January - lots of reorganising space and paperwork, making our year's supply of marmalade, polishing off Southlight 8 (nearly ready now and it's beautiful) and clearing the decks for an intense writing month. Then all in a tumble this week comes various bits of writing news from the last six months' submissions - I have a poem in From Glasgow to Saturn -the literature webzine for Glasgow University - a story - Spit and Promise- accepted for Pushing Out the Boat in May - one of my project episodes will be in the imminent Gutter magazine, three scenes from my play 'Lemon Drops' in an American collection and my poem in response to Burns will be in Fankle 5. That was fun - I do hope Dumfries Writers carry on with this sparky little broadsheet.
Of course, there were also disappointments but every writer gets acquainted with those early in their career....
I like to add dark rum and slivers of crystalised ginger
to my marmalade
I forgot to mention my poem Roll On 2094 (which notes our missing the Solstice Eclipse) on Poets Online which sets writers a prompt each month - I love the variety and quality of the work they post.
