A Blank Sheet.....

Christmas weather at Powfoot

I love the feeling at the beginning of a new year of a great blank sheet of paper waiting to be written upon - I know several people who find that idea terrifying - but for me it's as exciting as when, as a child when my favourite present was a thick, blank drawing book, I received not one but two one Christmas. Bliss ! So, what's on my agenda ?

1. My 2011 Creative Scotland fiction project - women amongst warriors.
2. A reading at the Ewart Library on World Book Night (March 5th) with Rab Wilson and Carolyn Yates.
   
3. My Powfoot community project, when I will encourage the inhabitants of the village to write about life here. Might well include some opportunity for my new camera to shine.
4. A new collaborative venture with Jean Atkin, Jackie Galley and Fiona Russell for the Dumfries and Galloway Wildlife Festival in April, called Writing Ground. And then everything and anything else that crops up in my writing world - some of which may lead me into new areas and friendships.
5. A dramatised memoir that may well develop into a collaborative performance with the musicians.
6. Then there's all the purely musical happenings for 2011 - performances, courses, exhibitions, new repertoire - which will feature our new Schnitzer recorders which arrived just after Christmas and which we've been getting to know. Another lovely unknown are all the pieces of music that we haven't yet discovered but will through the course of the coming year, and the new places we will play in.
